With so many places to advertise, deciding where to advertise your business can be a pretty tough job. How can you figure out which one is best for you? Well, in this article I’ll explain you why Facebook is a pretty important platform for online advertising.
Considering the fact that Facebook is the biggest social media platform on the web since it was first developed in 2004, with 1,55 billion active users per month, there’s no doubt that Facebook is a valuable tool for advertisers.
More than ever, Facebook is the perfect place to advertise because it provides you a good tool to reach the people interested in your product or service. So, with so many users, there is something for everyone, you just have to find the right target audience and then market your business to them. All you need is a good marketing strategy, some knowledge of how Facebook advertising works and which are the best practices.
Once you have created your strategy and you’ve decided how much money you’re willing to spend, then you have to design a creative and clickable banner ad and utilize all the features you have at your disposal, the best way you can.
I’m talking here mainly about your targeting options: this is what makes Facebook so great comparing to other social networking platforms that have ads. Here, you can choose between many different options like: location, age, gender, interests, behaviors etc, and these targeting features allow you to develop very specific campaigns towards people who are the most likely to buy your product or service. This helps you increasing your ROI, because it makes the spending more efficient.
In addition to offering great targeting options, Facebook has also received the highest grades for social ad effectiveness from Ad Execs (Facebook is the only social media platform that got an A grade from executives, for its ad targeting capabilities).
“One of the key strengths of paid social media advertising is its targeting capabilities… marketers consider Facebook an extremely sophisticated targeted advertising platform – said eMarketer principal analyst Debra Aho Williamson.
Facebook has avoided working with mobile web properties, but recently, according to an AdExchanger report confirmed by the social network, Facebook is running a test to expand the Facebook Audience Networks’ reach to mobile web advertising.
Also, according to Internet Retailer’s report, Facebook is testing out new placement of its Marketplace icon on the mobile app in order to increase its visibility and drive more e-commerce sales. The placement of a Marketplace icon among features like News Feed, Requests, and Notifications, prove Facebook’s intention of focusing more on its e-commerce efficiency.
Not only that the social network is testing a lot of ideas but it is constantly working on improving Facebook Ads overall and also their algorithms for CPA bidding.
There’s also a special thing about Facebook that I really like: each user can choose what types of ads are displayed on his page. Isn’t this the best way to manage an advertiser – user relationship? The user can select from multiple categories which kind of ads wants to see and this way it’s easier for advertisers to target their potential customers, in a much more mutual agreement.
Why are Facebook ads important? In a short answer I would say mainly because you can advertise your business considering the fact that they are well-targeted (with so many targeting options, how could they not work?) and because Facebook is constantly testing and improving its advertising methods or new ones.
